To pack over 1 million meals will take about 4,000 volunteers.

Each volunteer is signing up for a 2 hour shift that will include orientation and education about the food we are packing and where it is being sent. We also encourage (but don’t require) volunteers to donate for the cost of 1 box ($40) which contains 216 meals.

We have five 2-hour shifts starting at 9am on January 16th, 23rd, 24th, and 31st. The shift breakdown is:

9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Anybody! All ages are welcome, including children as young as 2 with parental supervision.

Absolutely! We’d love it. On the sign-up form just indicate how many people you will be bringing in total. (For instance, if you are bringing 3 friends, you would have a group of 4 including yourself.)

When the need is so great on a global scale, deciding on where to get involved is a challenge.  Throughout the year, Wooddale partners with local organizations throughout the cities to feed those in our own state and throughout America.

Mozambique is the 6th poorest country in the world, and Wooddale Church has an existing partnership with an orgnaiztion involved in ongoing, sustainable development in the community of Dondo. This makes the location a good fit for the Hunger Initiative. Learn more about Wooddale’s involvement with Mozambique with Children’s Relief International.

Children’s Relief International (CRI) has a project located in Dondo, Mozambique. Dondo is a community of 60,000 where the poverty is deep and stubborn. In this community, AIDS rates are astronomical and the population is plagued by malaria and scabies.

In the last 9 years the CRI project has grown from 60 to almost 600 children spread over three campuses, the largest being the El Shaddai Christian School. Its ministries also include a medical clinic, a bakery, a teaching farm, a microloan program, Project Life direct aid to widows, a food pantry, a nutrition outreach, and eight church plants

A unique formula developed by food scientists includes easily digestible protein, carbohydrates and vitamins. The healthy meal contains nutrient-rich food to fill empty stomachs and to support the treatment of HIV/AIDS. The food satisfies more than hunger pains by providing a complete meal for 18 cents.

There are 1.02 billion undernourished people in the world today that means that 1 in 6 people do not get enough food to be healthy or lead active lives. Hunger and malnutrition are the number 1 risk to health worldwide -- greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

As meals only provide short-term solutions, Wooddale partners with local and global organizations to provide long-term solutions. Learn more about sustainability
