Why give?

You may have heard the old proverb “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Unfortunately, the reality in many places around the world is that people’s lives are so consumed with the hunt for food or other basic needs that they can never rise above their experience of poverty.

Charitable giving is part of the recipe for the development and growth. That is why the Hunger Initiative is partnering with Children's Relief International in Dondo, Mozambique to help meet real needs with the goal of long-term development in mind.

Over 1 million meals

Each meal costs $0.18 for ingredients and shipping. That means 1,140,000 meals will cost $205,200.

• Each box we will pack contains 216 meals
  • which feeds a family of 6 for more than a month
  • or more than 200 children for one day

That means for the cost of a family going out to eat once ($40) you can send enough food to feed a family of 6 for a month.

Whether you can give a dollar or forty or one hundred, every little bit makes a difference. 100% of the $205,200 will go directly to those in need in Dondo, Mozambique.
