Five-Day Solidarity Challenge January 25-29:

Make a little sacrifice and stand in solidarity with the majority of the world's population.

The American diet is vastly different than much of the world. Half the world’s population lives on $2 a day or less. Meal options are few, and portions are small. As an act of solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world, we encourage you to join us in eating meals of similar portion size and content for five days.

Consider typical meals in other parts of the world:
o       Tortilla, rice and beans
o       Little to no meat
o       Locally-grown foods, especially produce
o       Small portions, seconds are rare
o       Little processed foods or refined sugar

While this seems meager by American standards, it represents diets in the broad middle of the world’s population. Approximately 1 billion people live on even less—only $1 per day.

Please use discernment in determining menu and portion sizes that maintain your family’s health and function during the week while also experiencing what life is like for the other half of the world.
